Figure Drawing and Painting

Figure drawing and Painting

This class provides the student with an opportunity to study the complex forms of the human figure over a sustained period of time. A strong emphasis is placed on accuracy, first in establishing the large forms and proportions of the body and then in rendering the figure in light and shadow by using illusionistic drawing and painting principles. Students in the figure class need to demonstrate proficiency in drawing the figure before moving to painting. For those students painting in the life classes, a traditional structured flesh palette is presented.
