Fundaments of Drawing & Painting with Leeanna Chipana

This course is specifically geared for those students new to drawing, or those who have some painting/drawing experience but have never been presented with the basics. Leeanna will present the fundamentals of drawing and oil painting from the very beginning. Students will be given helpful information regarding the concept of form and value. When students have completed the fundamentals of drawing they will move onto learning how to paint. Leeanna will also introduce various methods for beginning an oil painting, starting first with a single color and gradually moving toward a full-spectrum palette. Lessons will be taught in a clear and straightforward manner, and the instructor will work one-on-one with every student to ensure that each one can learn at his or her own pace.

  Still-Life Painting with Steve Forster

This course will cover the process of painting a still life in oil from graphite drawing to finished painting that employs a simple model of light and how it affects the hue, value and chroma of a surface. Topics covered include:  composing a still life, drawing utilizing 2D and 3D shape/form mapping, transferring a drawing to canvas, relating values using a small poster study, èbauche (under-painting) technique, basic color theory and palette organization.  Class is open to all levels of experience.

Figure Drawing & Painting with Robert Armetta

This class focuses on practical academic portrait- and figure-drawing and painting methods. Simple methods for ascertaining proper proportions, drawing and shading will be thoroughly discussed. The class is designed to eliminate the guesswork and trial-and-error approach to painting & drawing, and it is suited to beginning, intermediate and advanced painters. The model will take a sustained pose for those wishing to create a more finished work. Students are welcome to either draw or paint in the class.
