Robert
Armetta, Founder/Director
Robert Armetta has studied extensively throughout the United States and Europe, at schools including Columbus College of Art and Design, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, Barnstone Studios, Atelier Lack, the Florence Academy of Art, the New York Academy of Art, and the Water Street Atelier.
He has exhibited widely, at venues including the Allen Sheppard Gallery, Grenning Gallery, Arcadia Gallery, John Pence Gallery, Nabi Gallery, and Seraphin Gallery, and at the National Academy of Design, in New York City, and the Fort Wayne Museum of Art, in Indiana.
Armetta’s work has won numerous awards, from such institutions as the Portrait Society of America and the Art Renewal Center, and has also appeared in several publications, including a full-length article in the Artist’s Magazine and, most recently, the book Portrait Painting Atelier, which features a portrait of his on its cover.
He has taught drawing and painting at Long Island University, Southampton, and currently teaches drawing and painting at the New York Academy of Art and the Long Island Academy of Fine Art, in Glen Cove, New York, which he founded in 2000. His teaching at LIAFA has recently earned him the Distinguished Service in Art Education Award from the Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts, which honored him as an outstanding arts educator. His own studio is in Brooklyn, where he lives with his wife and daughters. |

Leeanna Chipana
Leeanna Chipana began her art studies at the Stevenson Academy of Fine Arts, where she apprenticed under the Director, Attila Hejja, while working as the school's Administrative Director. She then continued her studies with Robert Armetta at the Long Island Academy of Fine Art and Nelson Shanks at the New York Art Students League.
Leeanna has won a number of art scholarships to study at Studio Incamminati, in Philadelphia, and is currently pursuing a successful art career. Leeanna is continuing her studies under a full time apprenticeship program (Atelier Armetta) with Robert Armetta. In 2008 she started Long Island's first classical art program for children ages 9 through 13. (LIAFA Young Artist Program) This unique program was designed to offer young artists the opportunity to receive classical training often considered too advanced for children. In addition, Leeanna teaches an advanced drawing course to high-school students at The Long Island High-School of the Arts in Syosset, NY. Leeanna has worked with high-school portfolio students since 2004. |

Diana Corvelle
Diana Corvelle was born and raised on Long Island, New York. She completed her BFA in Illustration from Rhode Island School of Design, and has recently earned her MFA in Drawing from New York Academy of Art. Her work has been shown at galleries in South Carolina, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and New York, most recently at Brooklyn Borough Hall. Outside of her education, Diana has focused on ways in which she can involve her community in the arts, such as her mural work for the Rockville Centre Public Library and the initiation of a still-life drawing workshop for adult residents at a domestic violence shelter in Boston, where she was a long time volunteer. Currently, she is working on a series of narrative portraits that draw inspiration from the personal experiences and memories of the sitter. |

Daniel G. daSilva
Daniel daSilva began his studies in decorative arts at the Vanderkellen School of Fine Decorative Arts, in Belgium. Here he apprenticed under a master decorative artist and muralist, learning how to create details and motifs based on 19th-century French designs. He learned techniques including trompe l'oeil, faux bois and more. In order to further his classical education he began studying under Robert Armetta, and joined Atelier Armetta, where he continues his advanced studies. He is currently working with high-school students to help advance their knowledge of drawing. |

Steve Forster
Raised in central Florida, Steve graduated from the Florida School of the Arts with an A.A. in painting in 2003. Soon after, he was accepted into ArtSouth, an artists’ residency outside of Miami, where he first started to develop as a working artist. He then left for Italy, where he studied for two years, painting and drawing in the 19th-century tradition at the Florence Academy of Art with Daniel Graves. Moving back to the States with a desire to teach in this tradition, he finished his BFA at the University of North Florida. Steve has recently received his MFA from the New York Academy of Art, where he also teaches a plein air course. He is represented at Eileen Corse Gallery and Atelier in Jacksonville, FL, and Hanover Galley in Chattanooga, TN.

Suanne
Martin
Suanne received her undergraduate degree from a private college in Michigan known for its academic and foreign study programs, providing her an opportunity to travel and study extensively throughout eastern and western Europe, as well as the Middle East. In between her undergraduate and graduate work, she studied for three years with master sculptor Jay Holland at The Center for Creative Studies in Detroit, learning the foundation of figurative sculpture and anatomy. Continuing her art training at Pratt Institute in New York, Suanne
earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in 1991.
Since 1991, Suanne has made a living exclusively as a sculptor, working for various studios in New York, New Jersey and Chicago. Her main focus has been on sculpting the human form, with a special emphasis on portrait studies and commissions, many of which can be seen as permanent installations in museums across the United States as well as Mexico and South America. In addition to the figurative work, Suanne is building a strong and growing clientele for her canine sculpture-- highly detailed and cast in sterling silver, bronze and marble.
Working professionally as a sculptor has also added a deeper dimension to her skills as a sculptor instructor. Suanne has served as the head of LIAFA's sculpture department since 2004. |

Kevin McEvoy
Kevin began studying art at an early age by copying old master drawings by Albrecht Durer. He received his bachelors degree in Fine Arts from Stony Brook University. He went on to study painting in Chile at La Universidad de Playa Ancha.
The most important event in his training was his period of study at the oldest active atelier in Europe, the Charles Cecil Studios of Florence, Italy. In the Florentine Studio, he worked alongside some of the leading European authorities in painting technique, art history, and aesthetics.
Kevin McEvoy currently resides with his wife and son in New York. From his studio in Islip, he continues in the tradition of Sargent, Rembrandt, and Velazquez by painting portrait commissions entirely from life, without any photographic means. |

Kang Ngeow
Kang Ngeow began his classical-art studies at the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom and continued at the Michael John Angel Studios. In order to maintain his strict academic training Kang moved to New York to study at the New York Academy of Art. Kang has exhibited at the New York Academy of Art, the Earls Court Gallery, and the Academy of Realist Art. His awards include Winner for the American Artist Drawing Magazine Competition (2006), 4th place for the 2005 Art Renewal Center Scholarship Competition, Finalist for the 2005 ARC International Salon Competition, and Winner of the 2004 American Artist Magazine Annual Art Competition. Kang currently lives and teaches in New York.

Aris Papamichael
Aris Papamichael began formal studies with Susan Young, studying portraiture in 1995. She later attended the Stevenson Academy of Fine Art, where she studied full time under the direction of Attilla Hejja. She is now studying full time at the Atelier Armetta at LIAFA, and teaches on Tuesdays. |

Dave Peikon
Mr. Peikon's work hangs in private and corporate collections around the world. In addition
to 10 solo shows thus far, he has been featured in numerous publications including American Artist Magazine and the New York Times.
Also known for his striking portraits, Dave is honored to include among his clients such notables as author William F. Buckley Jr., Salvatore Ferragamo, Dr. James D. Watson, Nobel Laureate, and Dr. David Steinberg, President of Long Island University. The artist is represented on Long Island by the Lynda Anderson Gallery, in Locust Valley, NY. |

Frank Porcu
Frank L. Porcu is a painter, sculptor, and anatomist who earned a B.F.A. from Pratt Institute and an M.F.A. from the New York Academy of Art. He has studied drawing, painting and anatomy with Salvatore Montano, and sculpture and stone with Alfredo Cardenas.
Mr. Porcu has devoted his life to the true study of anatomical form and movement, based on human dissection.
He currently teaches anatomy at the Art Students League, the New York Academy of Art and Pratt Institute and has lectured at the National Academy as well as numerous other venues.
A recipient of the James Amster Memorial Award from the National Arts Club, he has participated in group exhibitions in New York, Italy, and the Salon d'Automne, France. |

Nick Raynolds
Raynolds began his formal studies in art at the age of 15 in Vancouver, Canada where he later received his BFA. He continued his studies in Düsseldorf, Germany and in Halifax, Nova Scotia. In pursuit of the mastery of his craft, he attended the Gage Academy of Art (formerly the Seattle Academy of Realist Art) and in January of 2001 Raynolds moved to New York to study at the Water Street Atelier and at Studio 126.
Raynolds is represented by the John Pence Gallery in San Francisco, where he held his second one-man show in September 2007. He has exhibited nationally and abroad including exhibitions at the Eleanor Ettinger Gallery and Forbes Galleries both in New York City and the Grenning Gallery in Sag Harbor NY. His work can be found in numerous collections, most notably, The Forbes Collection, NY. His work has been published in American Artist's 'Drawing Magazine', 'The Artist's Magazine', 'Art Collector' magazine and his painting appears on the cover of John Updike's novel 'Seek My Face'.
Raynolds has worked and traveled extensively throughout North America and Europe to Mexico and the Middle East often working as a scenic and decorative painter for film, theatre and residential and commercial projects. Most notable of these projects was assisting in the decoration of the palace and residence of His Highness Sheik Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi, UAE. He also worked as an assistant painter to Jeff Koons in New York City.

Lauren Rosenblum
Lauren Rosenblum, a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology, worked as a designer and stylist in the textile industry before finding her vocation as a visual artist. Pursuing studies in the decorative arts in Texas and in New York City, Lauren learned her craft from the top professionals in her field and spent a year as an apprentice before opening her own business.
In the fine arts, Lauren has studied classical life drawing, anatomy, and painting. Her teachers include Gustav Rehberger, at the Art Students League; Attila Hejja, at the Stevenson Academy of Fine Arts; and Robert Armetta, at the Long Island Academy of Fine Art. |

Rob Silverman
Rob Silverman’s innovative teaching methods are featured in the current issue of American Artist Workshop Magazine. He was recently awarded first prize by the official portraitist of JFK and Family, Aaron Shikler, in the Common Thread Portrait Exhibition. This year he was also awarded first prize at the Faces & Figures exhibition at the Art Guild of Port Washington.
His work has appeared at Crosby Street Gallery and Spring Studio Gallery in Soho, the Art Guild of Port Washington, the Art League of Long Island, Edward Hopper House, Lockwood-Mathews Museum, as well as the National Arts Club and the Salmagundi Club.
He has a BFA from the School of Visual Arts and has also attended the Art Students League, the New York Acadmy of Art, and Grand Central Academy. Among his former instructors are 4 Gold Medals recipients from the Portrait Society of America: Harvey Dinnerstein, Burton Silverman, Nelson Shanks and David Leffel. He is a member of The Connecticut Society of Portrait Artists and the Portrait Society of America from whom he was awarded an Honorable Mention in their 2009 Members Competition.

Kathleen Dinah Trocino
Kathleen Dinah Trocino is a figurative artist working in Queens, New York. She studied philosophy and visual arts at Fordham University, Honors Program, with a full scholarship. Her training in classical art began at the New York Academy of Art. Kathleen continues to study at the Long Island Academy of Fine Art and is part of Atelier Armetta LIAFA's full-time program. She is the Publications and Library manager for the prestigious American Academy of Arts and Letters in NYC.

Mark Utreras
Mark Utreras is a figurative artist trained at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts where he studied sculpture under Garry Weisman, Anthony Visco, and Stuart Feldman. He has also studied from medical dissections at Hahnemann University where Academy students were invited to learn from cadavers. Mark is the recipient of numerous awards including the Roger T. Willliams Scholarship awarded by the National Sculpture Society, and has competed in the National Sculpture Society’s Annual Figure Modeling Competition in 2005 and 2010. He has exhibited his work in New York, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts. Mark continues to advance his skill-set as an artist working in the classical traditions of drawing, painting and sculpture.
