Courses will be offered in Classical Drawing and Painting, Sculpture, and Portfolio-building, and will cover the full range of disciplines required to gain mastery of the classical arts. This is a rare chance to work with some of New York’s most talented artists. Students can study Figure Drawing and Painting, Cast Drawing, Portrait Drawing and Painting, Still Life Painting and Sculpture. Students will learn the Fundamentals of Classical Drawing Painting, and will be given step by step lessons on color, value, and form. James Daga Albinson, LIAFA’s program director, will discuss such topics as how to build a model portfolio, how to conduct oneself in a college interview, which colleges might be best suited to individual students’ needs, and how to apply for scholarships. He will also coordinate with teachers and students individually to ensure that each student is able to make the most of his or her studies. Students will make the material their own as they use newly sharpened skills to broaden their creative goals. This course will enable students to fully understand a wide range of academic principles, help them to see themselves more clearly as artists, and increase the range and value of their portfolios, producing some of the finest artwork on Long Island.
