This unique program was developed to give young artists the opportunity to learn classical methods and techniques often considered too advanced for children. All of our Young Artist instructors hold M.F.A.s or equivalent training, and in addition to their artistic excellence, they are notable for their caring, patience, and ability to break down complex artistic principles into more easy-to-grasp concepts.
Many of the finest sculptors came from the French Academy in the 19th century. This course will introduce students to the same techniques and methodology that were used in this golden age of sculpture. Students will learn to “draw in space” as they copy casts, creating a firm foundation for sculpting the portrait and figure. Tuition includes materials fee.
After going through the beginner’s curriculum, students may begin working on independent projects.
